LTC to Open Million-dollar Advanced
Manufacturing Center

The LTC-Jefferson Campus will open a new Advanced Manufacturing Center, featuring more than $600,000 in cutting-edge equipment, in Spring 2008. 

The center will be a 3200-square-foot lab fully equipped with Integrated System Technology, a unique way to combine hands-on skills with a strong curriculum for an outstanding learning experience.  The center will also provide a complete range of learning materials ranging from industry-based curriculum to equipment trainers to on-line multimedia with virtual trainers. 

The following courses will be taught in the center: Technical Math, Industrial Safety, Introduction to Computers, Technical Reading, Communications, Electrical, Machinist, Industrial Maintenance, Thermal and Welding.  It is projected that 10,000 skilled workers in these areas will be needed by 2009 in the region impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Practical Nursing Program Moves to
LTC-Jefferson Center


The Delgado Charity School of Nursing Practical Nursing (PN) program is moving from its current downtown New Orleans location to a brand-new, 5,000+ square-foot Nursing Center at the LTC-Jefferson Campus (5200 Blair Drive in Metairie).  The 14-month PN program will expand to accept 80 applicants beginning in June 2008 at the new center.

The center will feature extensive classroom and lab space including a 100-desk computer lab and a skill lab complete with state-of-the art technology and equipment. 

Delgado Charity School of Nursing is number one in Louisiana for the number of nursing students and graduates and supplies the state with almost one-third of its nursing staff.  Post-Katrina, nursing is one of the career areas in greatest demand; the Louisiana Health Works Commission has estimated that the state currently needs more than 2,500 licensed practical nurses.

New Course Added to LTC Spring Catalogue

LTC Region 1 is offering classes in Accounting Technology, Air Condition and Refrigeration, Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Culinary Arts and Occupations, Electrician, Office Systems, Occupational Education, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomy, Respiratory Care Technician, Welding, Certified Nursing Assistant, Customer Service, Hospitality and Tourism and Building Technology Specialist.

Additionally, job training in the areas of Carpentry, Electrical, Building Technician, Construction Trades, Air Condition and Refrigeration and Heavy Highway Construction is being offered tuition-free for qualifying applicants at the LTC Jefferson and West Jefferson Campuses. 

 

LTC Registration Information

Continuing, transfer and readmit students are eligible for registration from January 9th until Thursday, January 11th. The first day of classes is January 14th, so do not miss your opportunity to register for the Spring Semester.
